In-Patient Nutrition

Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. St. Joseph's Medical Center makes every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your doctor's orders. Patients are served breakfast between 7:15 and 8:15 am; lunch between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm; and dinner between 5 and 6 pm.  Occasionally your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your examination or test.

Dietary Staff will bring you a menu for the following day each day around 3 pm. They will return to your room after dinner to pick-up your meal selections. If you need help, a member of the Dietary Department will be happy to help you. If you are on a special diet prescribed by your doctor, you will receive menus tailored to your specific needs.

Cafeteria

Family and friends are invited to enjoy our cafeteria.  On the lower level of the hospital in the River Room, the cafeteria offers many fresh food choices.  St. Joseph's Medical Center has an executive chef on staff who creates menus and supervises the food preparation.  Choices include homemade soups, fresh salad bar, hot grilled sandwiches, multiple entrees like fish or pasta, and fresh pizza.

If a family member or friend wants to eat in your room with you, they may go to the Cafeteria, buy a meal there, and take it back to your room. If the person does not want to go to the Cafeteria, ask a nurse about ordering a guest meal tray. It will be delivered to your room at a cost of $5.
