Grace Unit Staff
The Grace Unit provides compassionate, quality inpatient mental health services to adults and adolescents with acute psychiatric problems in a secure, safe setting. Services include testing, psychotherapy, family counseling and medications.
The Grace Unit team consists of experienced psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists. Each discipline’s evaluation and expertise are used for each patient during his or her stay. Typically, a patient’s stay lasts five to seven days, but can be longer or shorter depending on the patient’s needs. Treatment plan are individualized and may include individual, family, and group counseling.
Persons age 15 and older in immediate need of safety are considered for admission by a psychiatrist 24 hours a day. Family members, physicians, clergy or other mental health professionals may make referrals for admission.
A specialized, private geriatric wing was established in 2009 to house elderly patients who suffer from dementia and memory loss. The wing separates the elderly patients from the general adult population, which allows us to safely manage those patients and better care for their specific needs.
The medical staff of the Grace Unit includes two board-certified psychiatrists, one of which specializes in geriatric psychiatry. As a part of the Brainerd Lakes Health system, our providers have excellent communication and coordination with other medical specialists and physicians.
